Amy grew up in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, graduating with distinction. Amy went on to earn her J.D. from Hamline University School of Law magna cum laude.
After law school, Amy entered private practice with large regional law firms practicing out of Fargo-Moorhead. While with these firms, she attained a specialty in estate planning and administration.
Amy’s estate planning practice focuses on the preparation of wills, trusts and related estate planning documents such as powers of attorney, health care directives and real estate conveyances and leases. As a part of estate planning, Amy assists with lifetime gifts and addresses medical assistance concerns. She also guides families, trustees and personal representatives through post-death probate and trust administration.
Estate planning ranges in complexity from simple wills to revocable living trusts with sophisticated transfer tax strategies and family succession provisions. Each estate plan recommendation is tailored to each client’s unique needs, with thoughtful consideration given to sensitive family and financial situations.
In addition to estate planning, Amy also practices law in a variety of other areas, including real estate transactions and the formation of business entities.
Amy is a current member of the Minnesota Bar Association, the State Bar Association of North Dakota and the Hubbard County Bar Association. When not practicing law, Amy is an adjunct professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead and North Dakota State University.
